Professional development register

Get more from the training you pay for

Record every session once: the hours, everyone who attended, what it covered and the notes that matter to your practice. The whole team can use what was learned, and everyone’s CPD hours are ready when a professional body or a performance review asks.

What goes wrong today

  • What was learned stays with one person

The notes are thin, and the slides and PDFs never reach the rest of the team, so the practice gets little back for what the course cost.

  • The training is hard to find later

When a client question comes up on the same topic months later, nobody can find the session, or remember who went.

  • CPD is scattered across spreadsheets

Each person keeps hours in their own spreadsheet or on a provider’s website, so nobody has the full picture before an audit or a review.

From the session to the audit

One session, captured once and used again

This is a sample practice’s register, following one session on small business CGT concessions. The names and figures are made up, but each step works the way the tool does.

Capture what the training was worth

Record the session once: the hours, everyone who went, tags for what it covered and notes for the practice. Link the slides and recording from your document management, so the whole team can use them.

Find the training behind the advice

Filter by a topic when you’re doing tax work or planning on it, and link back to the session that shows where the information came from.

Keep your own hours ready for an audit

MyPD shows your training for any date range, with registered, non-registered and total hours, so the evidence is ready if your professional body asks.

Export the session as a report

Export a session’s detail report to PDF, portrait or landscape, to your computer or straight into your document management.

Who it’s for

Built for firms whose people hold professional memberships

Practices whose accountants keep CPD hours for a professional body such as CA ANZ or CPA Australia, and partners and managers who review training at performance reviews and look for gaps. A practice setting can limit each person to seeing only their own records.

How often it comes round

After every course, webinar or conference, and whenever someone needs to show the hours they’ve done.

After training
Add the session, tag everyone who went and the topics it covered, and link the slides.
During client work
Find the training on the topic and link back to it.
At review time
Look at each person’s hours and the topics they’ve covered.

Questions

What practices ask about professional development register

Can one entry cover several people?

Yes. Tag every team member who attended in the participants field, and the session counts for each of them.

How do I see my own CPD hours?

Open the MyPD view and filter by date. The totals show your registered, non-registered and total hours for the period.

Can we keep the slides and notes from a course?

Yes. Write notes for the practice in the entry and link the slides, PDFs or recording from your document management system.

Can staff see each other’s CPD records?

Only if you allow it. A practice setting limits each person to their own professional development records.

Can we export a session for the file?

Yes. Export the detail report to PDF, portrait or landscape, to your computer or your document management system.

Which AccountKit plan includes the professional development register?

Full functionality is on the Professional tier.
